“Dance Is Education” Residencies

TEACHERS

I appreciate the respect you showed to all the children and how you drew out some participation from students who tend not to participate. Very good.  Thank you for contributing movement, respect, joy, music and beauty to their lives.

I was thrilled to see the students come up with so many creative moves when they had the opportunity to perform a movement solo... I saw great joy on many students faces. These are students that don't participate... They opened up and tried.

Shirley Case, Music Teacher, Howe Elementary School, Dearborn School District

You have been an inspiration to the students at Oakman Elementary School. Considering all of the challenges experienced because of their disabilities, Nicole has been able to provide a positive and exciting energy through dance.

DDC dance artists have brought something out of them (my students) that I didn't think was possible...something they would not have experienced with out her.

Debra Bernard, Physical Education, Oakman Elementary School, Detroit Public Schools

ADVOCATES/PARAPROFESSIONALS

We have several students who were 'in their element' performing!

Julia Savickis, Level 6 class, Howe Elementary, Dearborn School District

They talk about going every Tuesday. They were excited about going to dance and thrilled about seeing DDC dancers.

Ida Salem, Level 4 class, Howe Elementary, Dearborn School District

The props they created made them even more interested in dancing. One autistic student showed joy and excitement while participating! All I can say is that the kids love it...This Dance is something that makes them very happy.
